🏠 Matmata — The Berber troglodyte villages

Discover the famous dwellings carved into the rock, the traditional homes of southern Berbers for millennia. These underground houses, with patios open to the sky, offer a total change of scenery and a unique glimpse into Berber history. Matmata is also known as a filming location for Star Wars — Luke Skywalker's home was shot here!

🏔️ Chenini — The perched Berber village

One of Tunisia's most beautiful Berber villages, clinging to the rock over 500 metres above sea level. Narrow, steep alleyways, troglodyte houses carved into the cliffside, a white mosque perched at the summit — Chenini offers exceptional views over the plain and a truly timeless atmosphere. A magical place you won't forget.

🏰 Tataouine & the Berber Ksour

Tataouine is the capital of the ksour — these fortified communal Berber granaries perched on the mountainsides. Built to protect village harvests, these stone buildings with their labyrinthine architecture form a unique architectural heritage found nowhere else in the world. Some of these ksour also served as filming locations for the Star Wars saga!
